Police say theft caught on CCTV

A 37-year-old South Nowra man charged with stealing from a charity donation bin and assaulting police will appear in Nowra Local Court on July 7.

Police alleged the man, accompanied by a woman, was seen on CCTV sorting through charity donations at the rear of a charity building on the Princes Highway at South Nowra.

The couple were allegedly seen putting items into a car.

Police went to the scene and stopped a Ford Falcon sedan being driven by the man.

A search of the car found items of clothing, DVDs, home appliances, camera docks, sunglasses and other items.

Police arrested the woman, but allege the man became aggressive and resisted arrest and as he was being put into a police vehicle kicked three police officers.

Police charged the man with larceny, possessing housebreaking implements, resisting and assaulting police.

He was bailed and will appear before Nowra Local Court on July 7.

The woman was released without charge.
