Council gets its UN award

SHOALHAVEN City Council has received the Local Government Award for Excellence in Overall Environmental Management at the prestigious United Nations of Australia World Environment Day Awards.

Council was recognised for its extensive environmental management and education programs such as home sustainability programs, water catchment workshops, threatened species environmental assessments, catchment and beach water quality monitoring, reclaimed water management scheme and development of sustainable events policy and action plan.

Council also received praise for its work in co-ordinating partnerships and collaborations with local community groups, schools and universities to the betterment of the area’s environment.
