Hockey resumed at the weekend with Bluejays Juniors taking on St Georges Basin. Callum McKay opened the scoring for Bluejays. The Basin weren’t about to be outdone showed some great team work to equalise though W Hands. The game was evenly played with McKay scoring again for Bluejays to take the lead. Basin showed they were up the pace and again equalised. The play continued to move from one end of the field to the other and McKay was able to score twice more for Bluejays to seal the win 4-3.

Kangaroo Valley juniors were too strong for Allsorts running out winners 3 – 0. S Hamilton, S Jones and E Fletcher all scored a goal each for Kangaroo Valley. Allsort’s Saxon Perry made some great saves in goal to keep Valley scoreless most of the game. Brendan Lloyd played will for Allsorts and was supported by newcomers Emma and Kahlia.
Shoalhaven Heads Maroon ran out winners 5-1 over St Georges Basin Red. Scorers for Heads were Raz Morgan 1, Rebecca Henning 2, Lauren Keany 1 and Tracey Casinelli 1.Danielle Dolby scoring Basin’s only goal. Kirsty Ashby played well for the Basin and was supported by Kristy Richards and defender Nadine Longbotton.
St Georges Basin White defeated Shoalhaven Heads Blue 6-0. Kellie McIllwain starred up front for the Basin scoring two goals. The Basin had good field position for most of the game with Kim Kenny, Alisha Duncan, Ash Williams and Danielle Dolby combining well and controlling the mid-field. The Heads defenders Roz Butfield, Carol Bond and keeper Ann Boatswain had plenty of work to do. They were supported with Peta Griffin, Cathy Tasker, Kay Stone in the mid-field. Final goal scorers for the Basin were Kellie McIllwain 2, Chloe Boyce-Morlock 1, Alisha Duncan 1, Sharna McIllwain 1 and Danielle Dolby 1.
In a top of the ladies table clash, Allsorts Orange took on Allsorts Green. The ball travelled from one end to the other with both teams showing great passing and ball movement. Cassie English and Christina Yu played a great game for the Orange marking out key Green players. The second half saw a scramble in the Orange defensive circle and Elle Dodd from the Green was in position to capitalise. The Orange tried to hit back, penetrating the Green circle only to be stopped by the defence of Kirsty Clement and Haley Menzies. The Orange defenders of Judy Wakeford, Donna Hartestein and Raylene Perry also had their fair share of work throughout the game. With only a couple minutes left on the clock Mel Boundy put a through pass onto the stick of Lauren Duncan who was able to deflect the ball past the Green’s keeper to even the score at 1-1.
In the men’s games, competition leaders Kangaroo Valley defeated Shoalhaven Heads 4-2. Valley scorers were D Knapp, Dave Anstiss, Alex Crawford, C Hindman with Aaron Smith scoring two for the Heads.
Andrew Pullen scored a hat-trick in Bluejays’ 6-1 win over St Georges Basin. Pullen was supported by M Dockrill who grabbed a double and Dennis Smart grabbed a goal. A Anyon scored Basin’s only goal.
