Matches of the Round
What a big weekend it was for the Nowra Warriors under 10.1s last Saturday, playing two games in one day.
From Lyrebird Park to WIN Stadium Wollongong, the Warriors played in front of a great crowd and watched the mighty St George Illawarra Dragons defeat the Cronulla Sharks 30-nil.
The boy’s started the day by putting in a fine effort against a well drilled Kiama side showing plenty of heart and determination to go down by 46-6.
Jarrah Mcleod scoring the team’s only try.
He was well supported by his team mates with Jarrad Omoeboh standing out in defence, taking on tackle after tackle all game.
Zac Cruikshank and Jack Langford also showed great club spirit by backing up after playing the previous game.
While at WIN Stadium, later that day, the Warriors played Berkley in a Dragons One Community game promoting young league players in Group 7 and Illawarra competition.
Team manager, Lalita Turner said the boys were so thrilled when they all got to WIN Stadium and started to put on their footy gear on.
“They played the first 10 minutes before the Sharks and Dragons played,” she said.
“It was an entertaining game played with plenty of Warrior spirit.
“It was a night and experience the players won’t forget.
“They loved every moment and said that they wished that they could have played longer.”
A huge thank you to the parents and careers who travelled with the boys and to the fantastic coach, Sam Yorke for all of the effort he puts in – it’s much appreciated.
