NSW steps in to help pensioners

PENSIONERS’ concessions could be protected by the state budget with a proposed $107 million for seniors’ concessions.

The federal budget axed $450 million over four years from pensioner and senior concessions from July.

The funding went to discounted public transport fares, cheaper energy and water bills, council rates and vehicle registration.

South Coast MP Shelley Hancock welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement to protect pensioners and seniors from the cuts to concessions.

Minister for Ageing John Ajaka called on Prime Minister Abbott to reinstate the contribution which goes a long way to help pensioners and seniors.
