A NOWRA man has been airlifted to a Sydney hospital in a critical condition with a possible broken neck and serious head injuries after being struck by a car on Kalander Street outside the East Nowra Shopping Centre.

Police said the man was attempting to cross the road at around 6.20pm on Monday when he was struck by Ford Mondeo travelling in a westerly direction.
Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene. He also suffered multiple leg fractures.
He was transported to Shoalhaven Hospital for treatment before being airlifted by the Ambulance Rescue Helicopter to St George Hospital for specialist care..
The female driver was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
Kalander Street was expected to be remain closed for at least another half an hour as crash investigators and crime scene officers carry out further investigations.
Police remain at the scene and diversions are in place at Wallace and Stuart streets at East Nowra.
