Manyana 1
Huskisson nil
MANYANA has struck another blow to Huskisson at Manyana Sports Field after the home side put up a good defensive effort to keep the score line to 1-nil at the full-time whistle.
Manyana scored the only goal of the match 20 minutes in thanks to a really good solo effort from Brandon Perosh.
Perosh beat three players from Huskisson’s defence to put in a cracking kick and find the back of the net.
Manyana held the majority of possession in the first half, however there were periods where Huskisson would dominate, although neither team were able to addd to the scoreline.
Manyana coach Matt Tooley said he looked for his team to score more goals in the second half,
“I felt that if we did start doing the simple things right we could get more goals, but we didn’t really improve. Our defence was what got us home yesterday,” he said.
Late in the second half Huskisson had a really good chance to equalise, however a good one-on-one with Manyana’s goalkeeper Matt Ringland, and a good tackle by Robbie Barrett saw Huskisson’s chance denied and the score remain at 1-nil at full-time.
Tooley said he was generally happy with how his side performed.
“We are still not doing the simple things as well as we probably should, but it was definitely a good game and I am very happy with how we defended,” he said.
He picked the defensive line of Mark Dixon, Tim Dixon and Matt Sindon as the best players.
Manyana will face Culburra next round, whereas Huskisson will come up against St Georges Basin.
“We will be going up there to get the three points obviously, but it will be a tough game anyway,” Tooley said.
“Corey Ryan’s return will make it tough for us next week. He’s a quality player.”
