On Friday, May 9 Nowra hosted Wollongong Croquet Club for the best of three games contested over singles and doubles.
In the singles no. 1, Nowra’s David Turvey won his first match 7-4 against Wollongong’s Robyn Williams, but went down 3-7 and 4-7 in the remaining matches.
Singles no. 2 saw Nowra’s Mike McKenzie win both of his matches against Wollongong’s Betty Muller 7-5, 7-3.
In the doubles, Phil Pickard and Pat Poynter from Nowra were successful against Carol Hayse and Bernie McAlary from Wollongong, winning both matches 7-6, 7-6.
All games were closely contested with Nowra being the outright winner on the day, defeating Wollongong two matches to one.
