“This is really shattering. We are trying to help people in need and some greedy individuals stole from us,” Mrs Esdaile said.
She said various non-perishable goods were stolen, as well as a new coffee machine and a distinct orange heavy duty removalist trolley.
The store, run by Australian Mercy, is located at South Nowra and sells grocery items at discounted prices to people struggling financially.
Mrs Esdaile said the theft happened on Tuesday night. The thieves used a piece of wood to smash a window to gain access.
The theft was not discovered until Wednesday morning and police were called straight away.
“Police were here within minutes and 45 minutes later a forensic team was here,” Mrs Esdaile said.
Police gathered evidence and improvements to the building’s security were made this week.
People with information should call Nowra Police on 4421 9699 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
Meanwhile, Mrs Esdaile said the new coffee machine was going to be put in the store’s kitchen and she would like it replaced.
If a business can donate a coffee machine to the store they should call Mrs Esdaile on 0429 460 730.
