The 20-year-old woman was the backseat passenger in a green Subaru Forester that was travelling south on the Princes Highway around 5.30pm when the accident happened.
Police said the Subaru, driven by a 30-year-old Mollymook woman, collided heavily with the passenger side of a blue Mazda sedan, driven by a 25-year-old Sanctuary Point man, travelling north on the highway. He had attempted to make a right hand turn in front of the oncoming traffic into Island Point Road.
As a result of the impact the two vehicles collided with a third car, a white Holden Commodore sedan that was stopped on Island Point Road waiting to turn onto the highway.
The pregnant woman was trapped in the wreckage before being released by Ambulance NSW paramedics.
She was transported to Shoalhaven Hospital by ambulance with a fractured skull and was later airlifted by the Ambulance Rescue helicopter to St George Hospital.
Police said the woman’s condition was listed as stable and everything appeared fine with the baby.
The driver of the Mazda, who suffered a fractured left hand, was also taken to Shoalhaven Hospital, while a passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the Subaru and the 51-year-old male driver of the Commodore were uninjured.
Police investigations are continuing into the accident and appeal for any witnesses to contact Huskisson Police on 4441 5779 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
