Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen’s remains on top of the table with Berry-Shoal-haven Heads and Batemans Bay hot in pursuit.
Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen’s celebrated an outright win over Bomaderry at Lyrebird Sports Park.
After Ex-Servos made an impressive 300 runs in their first inning on day one of the match, Bomaderry were sitting on 3/44 at the beginning of the second day, with Stephen Wallace and Kealen Blattner at the crease.
Blattner headed back to the change rooms early, making one run, with Donald Kennedy making a swift 18 runs before he was dismissed.
Wallace followed next after top scoring for his team on 20 runs, with Bomaderry on 6/80.
Unfortunately a late order collapse and some swift bowling from Ex-Servos’ Shawn Higgins (4/14) and Luke Stevenson had Bomaderry all out for 99.
Bomaderry was sent straight back in to bat and was looking in trouble after a top order collapse saw them at 4/46.
Batting fifth, Blattner more than redeemed his first innings efforts with a swift 32 runs, which included four boundaries and two sixes.
Unfortunately for Bomaderry, Blattner’s teammates could not manage to stay at the crease, with the team bowled out for the second time in the day for 87 runs.
Ben Philpott (5/26) stared with the ball this innings, with Higgins adding another three wickets to his day’s total.
The battle for Berry to claim an outright win against Nowra at Nowra High School went down to the wire, but Berry still managed to take the maximum points thanks largely to six wickets by Brett Herron.
Day two started with Berry 6/274 after Nowra fell for 98 in their first innings.
Kane Armstrong and Alex Stokes were at the crease and did well to keep the runs flowing, with Stokes making 45 runs and Armstrong finishing on 26.
Solid performances from Berry’s bottom order in Dylan Cosgrove (15) and Joe Rogers (27) saw Berry finish their first innings on 348 runs.
Nowra went into their second innings with Berry in the chase for the outright win.
Gary Downey (47), John White (40), Mark Wasley (52) and Glenn Midson (33 n.o) gave the Berry bowlers a run for their money, but Midson ran out of partners with his team on 244.
Brett Herron bowled Berry to the outright win with 6/39 off 16 overs.
Over at Hanging Rock Batemans Bay celebrated first innings points over Ulladulla United.
