“Widening the shoulder ensures motorists who need to stop have a wide enough area to leave the road safely,” South Coast MP Shelley Hancock said.
“The new road shoulder will also provide a connection to the off road cycle facility south of Warra
Warra Road.”
The shoulder widening will require one of the two northbound lanes
to be closed from Parma Road to Forest Road until mid-2014, weather permitting.
“Concrete barriers will be installed to separate passing traffic from the work site. A 40km/h speed limit will be in place while the barriers are put in place and at times during work. A reduced roadwork speed limit of 60km/h will operate at other times,” Mrs Hancock said.
