About 30 children and their families attended the annual event, with the AFP very happy with the amount of support from the community.
Constable Ben Pipe said organisers hoped to make the event a local legacy.
“We have had about the same turnout as last year and we hope to continue the event annually,” he said.
Six-year-old Tyler Brown from Jervis Bay caught the first fish of the day and won a Shimano hat, rod and reel prize.
The major prize, a Hobie Kayak package worth $1500, was won by 12-year-old Jenayah Ingroy for showing the most politeness and enthusiasm on the day.
Constable Pipe encouraged the children at the under-18 event to catch as many fish as they could.
“It is a chance for us to interact with the community and children in a social setting that is friendly and engaging. The kids are great,” he said.
“We have been teaching the children about sustainability with the fish, for example the bag and size limits of the fish.”
The AFP put on a free sausage sizzle and prizes were donated by Hobie, BCF, Nowra Marine and Tackle and Tackle World.
