After creating a 124-run partnership with Zac Blattner (50) and hitting 13 boundaries, Mackay fell just two runs short of that elusive century, caught out on 98 runs.
Despite just missing the milestone, Mackay will have plenty to celebrate, with his team now in a fine position for day two og the match next week.
Bomaderry went into compulsory closure after 50 overs, with the team sitting on 5/265.
In the second under 16s match played on Saturday, Bay and Basin powered their way through 47 overs to make 191 runs in their first innings against Ulladulla United.
Ulladulla’s Caleb Murray (2/18), Logan Murray (2/2) and Sam Smith (2/29) found the wicket at Ulladulla Sports Park to their liking.
