Police alleged the youth entered Woolworths’ Nowra store at 7.42am and paced up and down the aisles near the cash registers.
He then left the store for a short time before returning.
After several minutes he walked behind the cash registers and forcibly removed the charity box before leaving the store with it wrapped in his T-shirt.
Staff witnessed his actions and called police.
The teenager was charged at Nowra Police Station with stealing and breach of bail.
He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Children’s Court on Sunday.
