A YOUNG girl was injured in the early hours of Sunday morning when a tree fell on a tent where she was sleeping at Culburra Beach.

Strong gusts from a southerly buster brought down a gum tree which fell onto a tent where the girl was sleeping with her two siblings.
The girl was pinned under a large branch but was rescued by her parents and a nurse who was camping nearby.
A tent in which the children’s parents were sleeping was also struck by a tree branch.
Ambulance and police attended the scene, where the victim was conscious and breathing.
She was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital where she was kept in for observation, suffering possible soft tissue damage and bruising.
Many visitors and local residents were woken by the arrival of the strong southerly change around 3am which brought wind gusts of up to 50km per hour.
