The blue Ford Falcon was travelling south on the Princes Highway up a hill at Jerrawangala, about three kilometres south of the Sussex Inlet turnoff, when the driver lost control about 7.10am.
The 47-year-old Kanahooka woman told police she believed she hit a patch of oil on the road.
The car veered off the road and hit an embankment before rolling, coming to rest on the roof.
The driver and her two passengers – a 48-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Kanahooka, were helped by motorists travelling along the road who stopped to help and extinguished a fire in the upturned car’s engine bay.
However none of the motorists saw the car crash, according to police.
After seeing the damage to the car, paramedics alerted an air ambulance in case it was needed to ferry people to specialist emergency care in Sydney, but the helicopter was cancelled when it was found all people had only minor injuries.
They were taken to Shoalhaven Hospital as a precaution.
The crash impacted on traffic flows through the region for about two hours.
Police inquiries into the crash are continuing.
