The Magpies extended their winning record in the one-dayers with a comfortable victory against Bay and Basin at Sanctuary Point Oval.
Fresh from their first win against Norths last week, Basin made the ideal start when Jonathan Hill removed danger man Kerry Penfold for a duck.
Unfortunately the early breakthrough was not a sign of things to come as James Milne and Brad Carey put on 64 for the second wicket.
Milne made a handy 35, including six boundaries, while Carey continued to pile on the runs when he was joined in the middle by Glenn Brandon.
Carey smashed eight fours and two sixes on his way to their top score of 76, while Brandon got in on the act with four boundaries in his innings of 26.
Berry’s innings fell away a little bit in the middle order thanks to the bowling efforts of Jonathan Hill (4/42) and Michael Labb (4/26), but thanks to same late runs runs from Blygh Herron (26 not out) they reached a competitive 217 before they were bowled out.
Basin got their chase off to a reasonable start, but they were soon in trouble at 2/26 when they lost openers Heath Tan (9) and Jonathan Hill (13) in quick succession.
That was shortly to become 4/26 with Berry’s openers Glenn Brandon and Ty Cherry each taking wickets.
The only significant partnership for Basin came when Brandon Labb (18) and Brad Miller (24) put on 48 for the fifth wicket, before both were removed by Daniel Hockey in the same over.
There was a slight wag of the tail with Adam Hart playing some big shots, but he was unable to replicate his heroics from fourth grade last week and Basin fell short when they were all out for 124.
Glenn Brandon did the most damage for the Magpies with 3/20 from his nine overs, while Ty Cherry and Daniel Hockey picked up two wickets each.
The Magpies are now in a great position to make the one-day final but will face a tough battle at home against Bomaderry next week.
Basin are out of the hunt for the one-day finals, but will be confident of getting their second win of the season when they host Batemans Bay next week.
