A crowd of around 50 children and their parents showed up to take a ride on the popular Jaspers Brush attraction.
The miniature railroad closed in August 2011 after concerns were raised over access to the property from the Princes Highway.
A battle with Shoalhaven City Council saw owner Les Irwin lodging a development application to run the family oriented event as well as build a new access road.
In an address to the appreciative crowd yesterday, Penwood Railroad president Steve Burrows thanked the Rumble family of Berry, Marke Nelson of Co-ordinated Logistics and Member for Kiama Gareth Ward for helping the railway get back on track.
