The Worrigee local was inducted along with members of the 1976 Montreal Olympic equestrian team which claimed a bronze medal in the three-day event.
In an illustrious career, Bennett represented Australia at three Olympics with his beloved Regal Reign.
“I never dreamt of being in the sports hall of fame,” he said.
“It is indeed a great honour.”
