The popular annual triathlon event, organised by local company Elite Energy, will run across two busy days and has once again attracted a quality field.
World triathlon champion and two times Hawaii ironman world champion Chris McCormack, Olympian Brad Kahlefeldt, Canberra half ironman champion Tim Reed, local athlete Mitchell Brown, 57 professional triathletes and a red hot field of fitness fanatics will go head to head in the gruelling two kilometre swim, 83 kilometre bike ride and 20km run.
Attracting a lot of attention from the media, and female fans, will be the boys from the hit TV show Bondi Rescue. Reidy, Bacon, Larnos, Quino, Whippet and Bagus will all be racing this weekend.
Adriel Young (aka Bacon) recently won his age group and claimed 20th overall at an international triathlon event in New Zealand. A great effort by the youngest member of the Bondi crew who took up the sport of triathlon just six months ago. He has quickly shown that a professional career in triathlon could be on the horizon.
The women’s long course race will see the Ironman Australia runner-up Nicole Ward going up against the current Ironman Western Australia number three Rebecca Hoschke. Before they can grab glory, the pair will need to beat home three time half ironman winner Sydney’s Lisa Marangon.
