“The petition is directed at both local council and the state government requesting that the community’s views be considered and reflected in the local environment plan,” said SLEP Review Group convenor Alan Burrows.
Mr Burrows said the goal of 10,000 signatures was “important because that is enough to trigger a debate in state parliament on this issue if we are ignored by council.
“Petitions are a great way to have a conversation with the local community,” he added.
“We are asking our members and supporters and the general public to download the petition, put it in their local shop or get their neighbours, friends and family to sign it and send it back to the Our Shoalhaven team.”
Mr Burrows said the petition’s key request was that councillors read the many public submissions and properly consider the merits of community recommendations.
