Track work on the line means buses will replace weekday trains between Bomaderry and Dapto from Monday, February 27 to Friday, March 9 and between Bomaderry and Wollongong on early morning weekday services from 12.15am to 4am.
Trains will continue to operate between Dapto and Central, but customers are advised to check train times before travelling as some services will operate to an amended timetable.
Buses will also replace trains on weekend services between Bomaderry and Wollongong from Saturday, March 3 to Sunday, March 4 and from Saturday 10 to Sunday March 11.
Acting chief operating officer Tony Eid said RailCorp was investing more than $6 million over the two-week period on maintenance and upgrade work to improve the safety and reliability of services for people travelling on the South Coast Line.
“The track work will include reconstruction of 2.5 kilometres of track, track reconditioning, renewal of turnouts which allow trains to move from one track to another and essential maintenance of overhead wiring and signals,” Mr Eid said.
“Customers on the South Coast have experienced regular track work on their line in the last few years and while this can sometimes be an inconvenience, it is necessary to maintain the rail network to ensure its safety, reliability and durability.
“Our advice to customers is to plan ahead during track work and to make additional time for their journey on replacement buses, particularly during weekdays when many will be travelling to and from work and school.
“We are committed to providing a more reliable network to customers and would like to thank them for their continued patience while this track work takes place,” Mr Eid said.
