A total of 26 members, including the crew, supporters, a physiotherapist and dedicated coach Chris Chaun, will fly out for the titles which will be held in Macau.
The crew’s campaign effectively started in April 2009, when it gained fourth in every event at the nationals in Queensland.
Member Russell Clanfield had then declared it a goal, not a dream, for the club to represent Australia in the World Club Crews in 2010 and that has now become a reality.
The training has been intense and has involved 15 months of build up – the team strengthening and becoming silver medal holders in every event at the 2010 nationals and were overall the most successful Grandmasters team.
At the worlds, Nowra will be representing Australian club crews racing against crack teams from Canada, USA, Germany, China and two other Aussie qualifying rep clubs.
And the Nowra Waterdragons are ready to give it their all.
Ahead of the World Club Crew Titles, local companies, Premier Motor Service and Bridges Finance Company, have backed the Nowra Waterdragons Grandmasters’ efforts and the crew has been presented with dress shirts.
Competition at the World Club Crew Titles in Macau starts Tuesday and will continue until August 2.
