On Tuesday, April 19, there were just 612 positive cases, with 281 in Wollongong Local Government Area (LGA), 127 in Shellharbour LGA, 175 in Shoalhaven LGA and 29 in Kiama LGA.
The deaths of two Wollongong women, one aged in her 70s and one aged in her 90s, both vaccinated against COVID-19 that occurred over the long weekend were reported by the local health district on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, April 20, positive cases jumped to 831 across the region, with 407 in Wollongong LGA, 149 in Shellharbour LGA, 238 in Shoalhaven LGA and 37 in Kiama LGA.
The death of a vaccinated man in his 80s from Wollongong was also reported on Wednesday.
On Thursday, April 21, cases rose again to 871 across the region, with 431 in Wollongong LGA, 180 in Shellharbour LGA, 216 in Shoalhaven LGA and 45 in Kiama LGA.
A vaccinated woman from Wollongong, aged in her 90s, died.
On Friday, April 22, cases dropped to 772 for the region, with 383 in Wollongong LGA, 161 in Shellharbour LGA, 190 in Shoalhaven LGA and 38 in Kiama LGA.
A vaccinated man from Wollongong, aged in his 70s, died.
NSW recorded 15,283 new COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths in the 24 hours to 4pm on Thursday.
