With two big wins over St George and a come from behind nail biting victory against Springwood, the team has clicked on all cylinders so far.

While all signs would point to yes based on teams respective records (3-0 vs 1-2), however, it's never actually as clear as may seem to be.

Wagga Wagga limped out of the gates with a narrow five point loss to Springwood, followed by a blowout loss to Canberra.

However, they hit back in their next game holding Newcastle to only 45 points, beating their opponent by 25 overall.

So it really comes down to which Heat team the Tigers are going to get.

So what have the Tigers done well to start the year?

Defense, defense, defense.

The Tigers have held all their opponents so far to 75, 76 and 81.

All final numbers that should get it done in about any league, if your offense is potent enough.

The use of full court and half court presses have allowed the team to pick off the passing lanes and get out in transition, utilising their speed and athleticism which has always been the calling card of the Tigers.

While the three point shooting has been shakey to start the year, there have been glimpses of their potential.

Such as in their second game where microwave bench scorer Aaron Puljic and team captain Bruce Ozolins both knocked down five each.

Was this an outlier? or can we expect a little less than that consistently, only time will tell.

But the strongest aspect to the Tigers this year is their depth, they have multiple guys who could start on any team and this versatility means they can match up with anyone.

It's a flexibility and luxury that past Tigers teams haven't had and one the team is taking full advantage of to start the year, with box scores commonly having five or more players in double figures.

"We can play a bit slower, we can play faster, we can go small, we can go big. This team's depth, means we can do almost anything," Bagoly said.

So the Tigers are strong, does Wagga stand a chance? Well you can never count out anyone in this game and head coach Ben Bagoly has seen some strong aspects to the oppositions game.

"They've got a bunch of young guns, so we definitely gotta be on our toes, guys who can really push the ball and shoot," he said.

"They also have a number of great veterans leading them, so they aren't a pushover, it'll be a pretty tough game I reckon."

Will the Tigers come out on top? Time will only tell, but it's important for the team to get off to a fast start and to not fall behind early like they did last week.

While showing the resilience to come back is great, after awhile you need to ensure you hit the ground running to not even give opponents a chance to win.
