Under 18 Boys - Black
To say the U18 Blacks opened the weekend dominating, would almost seem to be an understatement.
They absolutely wiped the floor with a Wollondilly side 77-15 fueled by an offensive barrage and a defense that allowed no opposition player to score more than four points.
Ashley Roulston (20 points), Bailey Davids (15 Points) and Harry Petre (11 points) led the Blacks to the strong win all recording strong games on both sides of the ball.
Their second match against first place Illawarra was a grind-fest with both sides playing a defensive match just hoping to make something happen on offense. Illawarra walked away with the win 36-24
In their final match the boys dismantled their hometown rival Shoalhaven Gold 67-46 off the back of a pair of 16 point games by Finn Lochrin and Ashley Roulston.
The Black now sit in second place with a record of 7-1.
Under 18 Boys - Gold
The Gold still isn't shining early in the season however there is still a lot of positive takeaways from the weekend for the boys.
There first match was a fantastic 45-39 victory against Goulburn. It was a balanced attack all-round with no-one scoring in double figures, at least five different players scored over five points with Ryan Alfano leading the squad with nine points.
The next two games weren't as close with a 28-42 loss against Merimbula and a 46-67 loss vs their hometown rival Shoalhaven Black.
The latter game still saw some big performances with Thevan Thanappa Hettige (14 points) and Oliver Driscoll (11 points) both having massive games to keep their side in it.
The Gold now sit in third place with a record of 2-7, showcasing the top heavy nature of the U18 comp.
Under 16 Boys - Black
The U16 boys Black opened their weekend strong with a 36 - 29 win over Wollondilly, and it would set the tone for a productive 2-1 weekend for the team.
Toby Royston (8 Points) and Charlie Fay (6 Points) lead the charge for the team, but it was a full team effort with everyone scoring at least once for the side.
In their second game Alexander Field (15 Points) and James Speer (13 Points) put up massive performances in a 55-45 win over Kiama.
In their final game the boys put up a strong fight but lost against Merimbula 32-41, Toby Royston (8 Points) again led the squad but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
The boys now sit in third place with a record of 5-4, a fantastic bounce back weekend they should be proud of.
Under 16 Boys - Gold
It wasn't exactly the weekend the Gold had been hoping for as the looked very different from their strong week prior.
The side dropped both of their games including a big 11-62 against top seeded Illawarra.
They team followed up that games with a 24-53 loss against Wollondilly. Sonny Jamieson (10 Points) led his team in scoring but the balanced attack of the opposition was too much to overcome.
The Gold look to rebound next round, dropping to fourth place with a record of 4-4, putting them in still a very strong position.
Under 16 - Girls
I don't know what coach said to the girls in practice but they came into this round looking like a whole new team.
Off the back of the rare double tie weekend, they girls followed it up with three wire to wire blowout victories.
In their first game against Wollondilly they came out firing, securing the 31 - 10 victory. Kate Speer (14 Points) led the charge, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
The girls other two massive victories were a 44-12 win vs Merimbula and a 40-10 victory vs Illawarra.
Madeleine Coleman (10 Points) was first in scoring against Merimbula and Lara Timmins (10 Points) took charge in the match against Illawarra.
The girls are sitting strong in first place, undefeated at 6-0 with two ties.
Under 14 - Girls
The girls experienced a weekend of two games that saw them at the highest of highest and the lowest of lows.
The squad started their day off slowly with a big 27-6 loss at the hands of Illawarra.
The girls could have got down on themselves at this point but they rebounded tremendously with a big 36-8 win over Wollondilly, led by the fantastic performances of Lexy Mcrae-Brumfield (14 Points) and Sidney Fordham (12 Points).
Under 12 - Girls
The Under 12 girls unfortunately had another weekend of disappointment dropping both of their matches, but there was still signs of progress as the youngsters find their footing in the sport.
However neither match was close losing first to Goulburn 55-8 and then to Wollondilly 37-10.
The girls will look to get on track in the weeks to come.
