The weather was certainly wet but that did not dampen spirits, with players completing nine holes on the Nowra Golf Course.
Players and organisers were even more keen to see the event go ahead after being cancelled last year due to COVID-19.
The event raised $11,594.00 for the three local charities supported by the event - Shoalhaven Education Fund, Shoalhaven Kids in Need and the Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention Awareness Network.
That amount was generously matched by Geoff O'Connell from Kinghorn Motor Group, bringing the total raised for the day to a grand total of $23,180.
Shoalhaven Kids In Need was established in 1993 by a group of local people primarily to provide assistance to Shoalhaven families of children with cancer or other serious illness.
The Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention and Awareness Network (SSPAN) is a network of representatives from the Shoalhaven community, government and non-government organisations, who work closely with the community to raise awareness of suicide, promote recovery from mental illness and build individual and community resilience. It's aim is to reduce the impact of suicide in the Shoalhaven.
The Shoalhaven Education Fund (SEF) was established to provide much needed financial assistance and support to local youth to help them achieve their post high school education, training and vocation aspirations. The group recognises the cost of regional students pursuing their post high school goals is often much greater than those of their metropolitan counterparts and that sometimes those costs can be prohibitive.
Winners of the day were PDC Lawyers and Town Planners 27.375 nett. Second was Synergy People 27.91 nett and third was Crescent Home Plan and Design 28 nett.
A number of other awards were given out during the day including of nearest the pins, longest drives and even a novelty prize where players had to guess how many balls were in a jar.
Golf day co-ordinator and Shoalhaven Business Chamber member Hayley Byrne thanked everyone involved in making the day a success, especially platinum sponsor and event co-host Macey Insurance Brokers and all the many other "wonderful sponsors" who backed the 2021 event or made donations towards the day.
The annual event will return in 2022.
