Raymond Allen, 39, is charged with a single count of murder
It is alleged Allen stabbed Mr McArthur to death at Sanctuary Point on Sunday, July 25.
Police were called to the Palm Beach Caravan Park on Ethel Street, around 8pm answering calls of a reported stabbing.
Officers found Mr McArthur inside one of the cabins with a single stab wound to the chest.
Despite attempts at CPR, the 49-year-old could not be revived and died at the scene.
Officers attached to the Homicide Squad launched an investigation, making a public appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
Allen was arrested at Silverwater Jail early Wednesday morning and made a brief appearance via video link in Nowra Local Court that afternoon.

Solicitor Brett Ford, acting on behalf of Allen, did not apply for bail and it was formally refused by Magistrate Lisa Viney.
No further details of what police allege occurred were placed before the court.
Allen was remanded in custody with the matter listed for further mention on December 15.
Speaking during a public appeal for help, Mr McArthur's father Stuart, said his son was "well known" in the local community.
"Many people in the community knew David, he had many, many friends,' he said.
"David wasn't a person in isolation, he leaves behind his sisters, a daughter and son and a 15-month-old grandson."
He described his son as a "bit of a larrikin", who stood for no nonsense.
"David was a proud Australian who loved life and was a generous man," he said.
"He loved his country, spending six years in the army, before getting out with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) but he was getting better."
