As part of the reopening NSW roadmap, it outlined this community sports freedom, among others, would be applicable to fully vaccinated adults (16+) and those with medical exemptions (staff and patrons).
Kiama MP Gareth Ward said this is welcome news for South Coast sporting clubs who have followed the COVID-19 public health orders up until this point.
"Community sport plays such a huge part of our lives and this is great news," Ward said.
"COVID lockdown restrictions have been particularly tough for our local junior and senior players in Australian rules, soccer, rugby league, cricket, netball, basketball and other popular sporting codes - and this is wonderful news for them all.
"Once we hit the 80 per cent target as part of the reopening NSW roadmap, community sport will be back in full swing across our region which will be a great relief for many local sporting organisations and teams."
On the back of this news, Shoalhaven District Cricket Association reiterated its commitment to starting its 2021-22 season on November 4, adhering to Cricket NSW's return to play guidelines.
