A pop-up COVID-19 testing clinic will be established in Culburra Beach on Friday (September 10) after virus fragments have been detected in the village's sewage works.
On Thursday, NSW Health said its ongoing sewage surveillance program has recently detected fragments of the virus at the Culburra Beach sewage treatment plant, leading to South Coast MP Shelley Hancock requesting NSW Health establish a drive-through testing clinic at the village.
Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) said the Culburra Beach Histopath drive-through clinic will operated from Crookhaven Park, at the Culburra Oval Mini Fields car park (opposite Culburra Beach Tennis Courts) on Friday from 8am. Entry via Prince Edward Avenue.
The clinic will operate on Friday until 4pm and will continue Saturday and Sunday (where demand will be monitored).
Anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath, is urged to immediately get tested.
Even people with mild symptoms, such as fatigue, new muscle aches or pains, a change in taste or smell or a new runny nose, should arrange testing as quickly as possible.
