In Thursday night's S10 women's 100-metre backstroke final, the Sussex Inlet product hit the wall in fourth, in a time of 1:10.34.
But third-placed Lisa Kruger, from the Netherlands, clocked a 1:09.44, to claim the Tokyo bronze medal, just ahead of the 16-year-old Shoalhaven High School student.
The race was won by Hungary's Bianca Pup (1:06.70), with Canada's Aurelie Rivard (1:08.94) finishing second.
Greenwood was actually the second fastest qualifier into the final, recording a 1:10.23 in heat one.
The Bay and Basin Amateur Swim Club talent, who also has a fifth-place finish in the freestyle to her name at the Tokyo Aquatic Centre, will wrap up her busy schedule with the S10 200-metre individual medley on Friday.
