Wright and Fitzgibbons are two of the nine women to qualify for next year's tour based on the 2021 season rankings, which saw the former finish equal sixth and the latter qualify for the WSL final five.
Joining that duo will be United States' Caroline Marks and Courtney Conlogue, Hawaii's Carissa Moore, Brazil's Tatiana Weston-Webb, France's Johanne Defay, Snapper Rock's Stephanie Gilmore and Sunshine Coast's Isabella Nichols
Unfortunately, neither of Tyler's two brothers, Owen and Mikey, who competed on the 2021 tour have received automatic qualification to next year's series, after they finished 25th and 32nd respectively - with the latter recently announcing he was stepping away from the tour.
The 2022 men's lineup features Brazil's Gabriel Medina, Italo Ferreira, Filipe Toledo, Yago Dora, Deivid Silva, Jadson Andre and Miguel Pupo, US' Conner Coffin, Griffin Colapinto and Kelly Slater, Hawaii's John John Florence and Seth Moniz, South Africa's Jordy Smith, Japan's Kanoa Igarashi, Portugal's Frederico Morais, Italy's Leonardo Fioravanti, Angourie's Morgan Cibilic, Merewether's Ryan Callinan, North Stradbroke Island's Ethan Ewing and Western Australia's Jack Robinson.
With new venues and a revamped tour structure, the 2022 CT season will start with 36 men and 18 women.
The composition will be as follows:
- Twenty men and nine women via their 2021 CT performances.
- Two men and two women via injury wildcard.
- Twelve men and six women via the upcoming 2021 Challenger Series.
- Additionally, there will be two men's wildcards and one women's wildcard per event.
Halfway through the season, the field will be reduced to 22 men and 10 women.
The top-ranked surfers will continue on to the second half of the tour (where they will be joined by two men's and two women's wildcards) and automatically requalify for the 2023 CT.
