The contemporary arts event is set to promote, explore and showcase Bomaderry and its people.
Shoalhaven Health and Arts, in collaboration with Bomaderry Community Inc. and The Good Shed Learning, is putting out the call for innovative community-minded artists of all contemporary art forms to re-imagine the forgotten jewel of Bomaderry.
South Coast artists are asked to submit a project proposal that may be developed and produced as a core project for a contemporary, community-engaged arts event in Bomaderry in 2022.
Successful artists will receive funding of $2000 plus to further develop their project plan.
Closing date for Expression of Interest is Friday, September 27, 2021
"I believe my town of Bomaderry has the potential to be the next 'undiscovered' destination of choice. I am proud of my community of imaginers, explorers, survivors, storytellers and knowledge keepers who are both resourceful and generous.
- Kylie Knight, Committee Chair, Bomaderry Community Inc
Kylie Knight, Committee Chair, Bomaderry Community Inc. said there is now strong evidence to conclude that well-designed arts programs, whether they be visual, performance or hybrid art form have a desirable effect on community well-being and collective community self-esteem.
"The Bomo Alive project seeks those artists who are committed to revealing and expressing the true character of Bomaderry, artists who can go beyond the everyday and seek out the overlooked or unnoticed, and artists who fossick to discover aspects of unrealised potential that lay at the heart of every community," she said.
"I believe my town of Bomaderry has the potential to be the next 'undiscovered' destination of choice. I am proud of my community of imaginers, explorers, survivors, storytellers and knowledge keepers who are both resourceful and generous.
"I have every certainty that, with the appropriate artists on board, Bomo Alive will raise the profile of our town as a creative contemporary community."
If you have a great artistic concept that will bring Bomaderry and its people into the centre of the Shoalhaven's cultural universe and you have the experience and expertise to make it happen with some support, the Bomo Alive team wants to hear from you.
