While NSW Health has suspended elective surgeries in some private hospitals, with staff reallocated to help combat the COVID-19 emergency, the Nowra Private Hospital is not affected.

A spokesperson for Ramsay Health said a number of Ramsay's hospitals in the Greater Sydney area had been affected but their regional operations were continuing as normal.

"Elective surgery at Nowra Private is not affected," the spokesperson said.

"There are no changes to Nowra's operations.

"We are continuing with all our normal surgeries, however we are not allowed to increase the numbers of elective surgeries."

NSW Health announced staff from many private hospitals across Greater Sydney, including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong, as well as some regional locations, were being deployed to assist the NSW Government's response to the current COVID-19 outbreak.

It is understood Wollongong has now also been removed from that list.

Over the past year Nowra Private Hospital has undergone $9 million renovation which was officially opened to the public in June.

The renovation included the creation of an additional operating theatre, patient ward and oncology unit, plus the refurbishment of three existing operating theatres. Patient rooms were converted from shared rooms to private rooms and the hospital was given a general facelift inside and out.

Nowra Private Hospital is a 84 bed hospital, offering a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services including - bariatric surgery, breast surgery, ear nose and throat, colo-rectal, cosmetic surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general medicine, general surgery (specialising in laparoscopic procedures), gynaecology, Oncology, ophthalmology, oral surgery, orthopaedics, including joint replacements, plastic surgery and urology.

The hospital also offers rehabilitation services including orthopaedic, medical reconditioning and surgical reconditioning.
