Shoalhaven Vietnam Veterans' Day commemoration
The enforced NSW wide stay at home orders have meant this week's planned Vietnam Veterans' Day commemoration has been postponed.
The Shoalhaven branch was planning to mark the 55th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.
Shoalhaven Food Month
The Shoalhaven Food Network has been forced to push back their food month from August to next May because of the worsening COVID-19 situation in NSW.
The Shoalhaven Food Month usually celebrates the local hospitality culture in the month of August through community events hosted by Shoalhaven restaurants and industry representatives.
Nowra Players - Dinkum Assorted
The Nowra Players community theatre group have postponed their season of Dinkum Assorted days before it was due to open.
New dates are to be confirmed.
"We ask that our patrons please hold onto their tickets until the new dates are announced," the group said.
Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival
With the annual October weekend festival getting closer and the current NSW lockdowns not easing, Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival have decided to postpone for the second year in a row.
Tickets will be fully refunded via Humanitix.
"We are committed to supporting artists and enjoying live music and will look to have smaller pop up events as we make our way to 2022 with hopes of a full recovery," the organisers said in a statement.
Shoalhaven council buildings forced to close
Following NSW stay at home orders, Shoalhaven City Council have closed their public use buildings.
Until the situation changes, the following buildings will remain closed to the public:
- Administration buildings in Nowra and Ulladulla
- Indoor recreation centres
- Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre
- Holiday Haven Caravan Parks
- Showgrounds and campgrounds
- Public Swimming pools excluding Sea pools at Ulladulla and Huskisson which will remain open.
- Waste Transfer Stations (Ulladulla, Huskisson and West Nowra facilities remain open)
- Libraries, Galleries and other Community buildings
- Animal Shelters
- Community Centres, Public Halls and Buildings
The Shoalhaven Business Awards 2021
The Shoalhaven Business Awards 2021 has been thrown a curve ball due to recent COVID-19 lockdown announcements.
Originally slated to go ahead on Friday, August 20, the Shoalhaven Business Chamber has been forced to make the difficult decision to push the event back to a future date in September.
Kangaroo Valley Milking Stool
Both the film and PR milking stool talks have been postponed to next year.
Curator Mary Moran said the uncertainties of the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions within NSW meant it was too difficult to determine when it would be safe to hold the event.
"It also makes it impossible for many of our scheduled speakers to attend," she said.
"We will be in touch later this year or early next once NSW is more out of the COVID woods - with the rescheduled events, and some exciting new ones."
Tickets will be fully refunded via Humanitix.
Shoalhaven-based sports competitions
The 2021 seasons of numerous Shoalhaven-based winter sports competitions have been sidelined for at least seven days, following Saturday's statewide lockdown announcement by the NSW government.
The Shoalhaven District Football Association, Shoalhaven Netball Association, Shoalhaven Hockey and Nowra Velo Club were forced to make alterations to their respective 2021 campaigns.
And the 2021 Group Seven Rugby League season was officially abandoned following a meeting with NSWRL on Monday.
In rugby union, the hopes of Shoalhaven securing their second-ever first grade title in 2021 were dashed after their Illawarra Rugby season was cancelled earlier this month.
AFL South Coast cancelled their season in late July following the state government's decision to extend the Greater Sydney lockdown by four weeks.
