And to mark this moment in history we find ourselves in, one Nowra tradie decided to get his very own QR code - permanently inked on his leg.

The QR code actually works, too - with a YouTube link to the song Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson popping up when scanned by a phone.

"I love country music and I was watching something that showed the most played country song in 1993, the year I was born, which was Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson," said Jimmy Hefferan.

"And I thought, 'how funny would that be', everyone's been checking into places so what a laugh to scan a leg and then you get Alan Jackson."

An avid country music fan, the plasterer said he got the tattoo to "brighten the mood".

"It's a bit of a challenging time out there for a lot of people, so I thought I'd get it just for a bit of a laugh," he said.

"I suppose people probably look at it and go, 'is that just an example of a QR code?' But I actually have something funny that comes up and hopefully it brightens the mood."

No stranger to a "silly" tattoo, with the logo of the pizza shop Flame in North Nowra inked on his skin, Jimmy said his wife was "not really surprised", but his mother had a different reaction.

"I had my mum message my sister yesterday saying 'he didn't do that, did he?'" he said.

"I told her to text mum back to say I'd never do something so stupid."

A fresh tattoo, Jimmy was inked on Tuesday, August 3, by Matt Sobierajski at Gallery 14 in Nowra.

Matt said it was definitely "up there" in the list of "farfetched" tattoos he has been asked to do.

Next on Jimmy's ink list? He said perhaps he'll get the classifieds of the South Coast Register permanently embedded into his skin.
