We heard it ring out at Sydney and it's becoming a now familiar war cray again at the Tokyo Olympics.
The Aussies are building a huge medal haul and for all us locals Culburra Beach's Owen Wright has led the charge, winning the first ever Olympic surfing medal.
Wright claimed bronze and as our front page on Friday exclaimed - Our Bronzed Aussie!
I bet the "Burra" was going off the other night celebrating his success.
The Olympic medal aside which was fantastic Owen's story is so inspirational. Suffering a severe head injury six years ago, he had to learn to walk and talk again before even thinking about surfing.
However, the announcement of surfing in Tokyo drove him to get back to his best and as they say - the rest is history.
We have been covering Owen Wright, all the Wright kids in fact, since they were all young and best of all despite all their success they have never changed - they are always approachable and love nothing more to get back to their home in the Shoalhaven.
From one inspirational story to another - or perhaps one that's a bit out there - congenial Kangaroo Valley cop Todd Cremer is planning to do burpees, yes dreaded burpees, for 10 hours straight to raise money for the ALIVE Project, in and effort to stop youth suicide. Todd estimates he will complete 4000 burpees and cover around 10 kilometres during his efforts - he's fundraising so get on board.
On the other hand one of our new journalists Grace Crivellaro brought us the story of Huskisson and the Jervis Bay area where retailers are really doing it tough with the lack of tourists due to COVID lockdowns. Grace will be visiting other local villages in coming weeks to see how they are coping as well.
I suppose it's a great time to remind everyone about Shoalhaven City Council's Spend Here This Year campaign, encouraging us all to get out and support our local businesses,
Another of our newer editorial team members Liam Cormican has been keeping an eye over everything council and got the reactions from current councillors and upcoming candidate's to the deferment of the Local Government Elections until December.
And they say change is as good as a holiday and there have certainly has been plenty around Nowra of late, including a massive change to the iconic Dave Hill Marine Nowra CBD property. Affectionately known as the big blue building on the corner (cnr of Berry and North streets and Bridge Road) is no more and it looks fantastic and has a great history which we have shared.
Until next week - stay safe.
