Both South Branch Inc and South East Phoenix players are keeping their skills sharp in case their respective Football NSW seasons return to the field in the near future, amid COVID-19 lockdown concerns.
As such, Southern Branch, who play in the Association Youth League, and Phoenix, who are part of the National Premier League Two competition, took part in a number of practice matches at Ison Park on Sunday.
The fixtures at South Nowra saw Southern's under 13 boys side defeat the under 15s Phoenix side 6-1, behind three goals from George Hyam.
Other Southern goal-scorers were Aiden Dhu (two), Luke Green and Lachlan Sanders, while Kalani Hay found the back of the net for the Phoenix.
Elsewhere, Southern's under 14s side downed the Phoenix 3-nil, with Thomas Rutkowski and Bluey Spies adding two and one goals respectively.
Southern's combined under 15s and 16s sides then overcame Phoenix's first/second grade outfit, to the tune of 7-nil.
Jaxon Scholtz scored a hat-trick in the victory, with Brock Irwin-Jerman (two), Toby McDonnell and Lucas Zerafa also converting chances.
This action-packed day follows matches for both Southern and Phoenix against Shoalhaven District Football Association clubs Huskisson-Vincentia, Milton-Ulladulla, St Georges Basin and Shoalhaven United, as well as a number of Shoalhaven representative sides, fresh off their branch title campaigns.
Both Football NSW clubs intend to take part in more fixtures over the coming weeks, to keep progressing as players.
