The request was directed at Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and asked that the cycleway be built while the South Coast railway line is partially duplicated and upgraded to allow for heavier freight and alleviate traffic hold ups.
The motion was put to council's Ordinary Meeting by Shoalhaven Independent's Councillor John Wells and seconded by Patricia White on Tuesday, July 27.

The shared cycleway would link to the Gerroa to Gerringong walk and the Gerringong to Kiama walk and would be over 30 kilometres long.
The duplication of the railway line will double the level of connecting services between Kiama and Bomaderry and deliver a regular 30 minute passenger service in peak hours and a regular 60 minute service in the off-peaks, according to TfNSW.
And earlier this month Regional Transport and Roads Minister Paul Toole announced a $40 million dollar heavy rail upgrade between Berry and Bomaderry enabling heavier loads.
Council will now write to NSW Regional Transport and Roads Minister Paul Toole, Tourism Minister Stuart Ayres, Kiama MP Gareth Ward and the Local Government Minister and South Coast MP Shelley Hancock.
