Group Seven president Scott McLaurin, operations manager Ashton Sims and their committee held a meeting on Wednesday evening to discuss their best course of action to resume their season.

Following their meeting, Group Seven released this statement, to coincide with NSWRL's stance.

"With the news the Greater Sydney lockdown has been extended until August 28, we are presently working through the implications this decision has for our plans to resume our competitions," a Group Seven representative said.

"Clearly, there can be no resumption of competitions during the lockdown period.

"At the moment, we are taking health advice and we are also consulting with the Office of Sport and other major winter sports about possible scenarios.

"We expect to be in a position to provide everyone with further information about the competitions in the early part of next week, as we remain confident of returning to the field this season."

While their senior ranks remain sidelined, Group Seven's Shoalhaven and Kiama-based junior clubs will return to the field this Saturday.

Similarly to Group Seven seniors, Illawarra Rugby held discussions on Wednesday, following the state governments announcement, before outlining no decision will be made on their 2021 season in the near future.

"We will be consulting with all our clubs in the next couple of weeks to look at what options might be open to us," said Illawarra Rugby president Darin Crofts said on Wednesday.

One competition that has already been cancelled for the remainder of 2021 is the AFL South Coast Illawarra juniors, with a decision in their senior counterparts expected in the coming days.

Other competitions yet to make announcements on their 2021 seasons include Baseball Illawarra, Illawarra/South Coast Hockey, Basketball NSW's Waratah League and Football NSW's National Premier League Two and Association Youth League.
