Macquarie Pass is now re-opened in both directions after the truck stuck on one of the bends has been removed.
LiveTraffic is reporting that traffic is back to normal in the area.
Earlier:
The Illawarra Highway is closed in both directions on Macquarie Pass as a truck is stuck on one of the hairpin bends on Monday morning.
According to the Transport Management Centre the incident began around 6:30am, with heavy traffic built up to Albion Park by 7:30am.
Motorists in light vehicles can use Jamberoo Mountain Road. However, heavy vehicles will need to use a longer diversion via the Hume Highway/Motorway, Picton Road and the M1 Princes Motorway.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time.
Traffic crews are on site and a heavy tow truck is also on the way.
