Southern Highlands Division of General Practice spokesman Dr Vince Roche said that he could confirm that the positive case was in a doctor who worked in Campbeltown Hospital and lived in Burradoo.
His comment follows news that one positive case has been recorded in the Wingecarribee Shire.
NSW chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant identified Mittagong and Burradoo as sites of concern for testing in the Monday morning (July 19) Covid conference led by NSW premier Gladys Berijiklian.
Dr Roche said he had been told by the doctor-in-question that he had "contracted the virus through only a brief encounter with a colleague".

"The person in question returned to his Burradoo home on Wednesday after working at Campbelltown Hospital," Dr Roche said.
"He said he did not leave his home again until he went for a Covid test on Saturday after experiencing mild symptoms," Dr Roche said.
"His wife and children had also been home for the entire time since he returned from work on Wednesday."
Dr Roche said the wife and children had all since had Covid tests and returned negative results.
"It is very unlikely this case would have had the opportunity to spread in the community," he said.
Dr Roche said that the Campbelltown-based doctor had very mild symptoms.
"His message to all is to go get tested and get vaccinated," Dr Roche said.
