The 24-year-old will represent New South Wales at the 143rd Royal Queensland Show, the 'Ekka' in Brisbane from August 7-9. She'll be judged on the accuracy of her observations.
"The most important competition in judging dairy cattle is, of course, the udder," Brittany said.
"You want a nice, snug udder and nice sized teats that are evenly placed. I'm also looking for good feet and legs and a nice, big, open frame."
Brittany has been involved in the dairy industry for the past eight years and has been working at a dairy in Pyree for the last four months.
She hopes the competition will both give her more confidence to take on judging gigs locally, and inspire other young people to give it a go.
"We need youth to get involved with judging and showing because we're going to need those people to step up in those roles in the future," Brittany said.
While she said nerves are high, Brittiany's excited for her first Ekka and visit to Brisbane - but it's still a little up in the air at this point.
COVID-19 restrictions mean she can't fly out of Sydney and Canberra flights come with an increased expense, and possible Sydney stopovers.
But with still a few weeks to go, she's got her fingers crossed she'll be able to do the state, and the Shoalhaven, proud.
