The selected musicians, dancers, poets and other performers will come together at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre for The Big Crack UP on Friday September 3, COVID regulations permitting.

It will be in celebration of this year's Mental Health Month theme "Tuning In" and World Suicide Prevention Day.

Closing date for Expression of Interest to perform at The Big Crack UP is Friday August 6.

This year again, Shoalhaven Mental Health Fellowship will be assisted by Shoalhaven Health and Arts to produce the variety event that will showcase the benefits of the performing arts for community wellbeing and for positive mental health.

Mental health issues will affect one in five Australians every year.

Anxiety disorders are often the most common mental health challenge, followed by depression.

Music teacher and performer Meg Kovalik is assisting with the event and hopes many community-minded performers step forward to take part.

"Music is a healing gift to be shared, and now more than ever our community needs every opportunity to heal," Meg said.

"The Crack UP event is a great initiative and I will absolutely be putting in my expression of interest to perform."
