Ms Copley said Shoalhaven City Council had long ignored the calls from the community to make green bins available, with many residents across the community constantly raising the issue with her at community meetings and events.
"Shoalhaven City Council is simply behind the times, with neighboring Kiama Council and Eurobodalla Shire Council both offering organic waste collection for their residents," Ms Copley said.
"There is simply no excuse not to offer a regular organic waste collection service for Shoalhaven residents. It is all good and well to have a state-of-the-art, multi-million-dollar waste sorting facility in the region, however, it is simply pointless if residents don't have an additional bin to get rid of their organic waste.
"The NSW Government recently released the state's 20-year waste strategy which mandates a uniformed, three-bin waste collection system for local councils, including an organic waste bin. There is now no reason for Shoalhaven City Council to wait.
"If elected to Shoalhaven City Council on September 4, I will be fighting to rollout a green, organic waste bin and ensuring all implementation costs are met by the NSW Government," Ms Copley said.
Team member Fred Campbell OAM said many residents, particularly with larger blocks, had a large amount of green organic waste which they found difficult to dispose.
"A green bin for the Shoalhaven is long overdue and is a simple, common-sense approach to a long, outstanding issue in our region," Mr Campbell said.
"Given the investment committed by the NSW Government, now is the time to act! Should we be elected on September 4, we will be fighting to ensure residents across the Shoalhaven have access to organise waste bins."
