The round nine AFLSC Shoalhaven junior fixtures scheduled for Sunday, July 11 are unaffected and will proceed as normal.
But neither round nine of Illawarra juniors and round 10 of AFLSC senior will proceed, in lieu of the public health order restrictions.
Following a meeting with the AFL state community football team on Wednesday afternoon, community football and competition manager South Coast Tim Martin explained he is currently liaising with the senior clubs as to the best course of action moving forward - with the Illawarra juniors draw set to remain relatively unchanged.
"We've provided clubs with the opportunity to consider three possible fixturing options and provide their preference on these by close of business Friday," Martin said.
Those three options Martin alludes to are concerned with what to do with this Saturday's round 10, which now cannot proceed with the continuing lockdown.
Option one will involve the July 10 fixtures being shifted to August 28 - essentially creating a 17th home and away round.
This option will retain a three-week finals series and push back its grand final day at North Dalton Park to September 18.
The second option also involves shifting round 10 to round 17 but changing the finals to a two-week format, to maintain the original grand final date of September 11.
"One hiccup with options one and two is round 10 happens to be remarkably similar to round 16," Martin said.
"If we move round 10 to round 17, there would be a majority of teams playing each other two weeks in a row.
"That's the compromise clubs would need to be happy with to squeeze the lost round 10 matches into the home and away season."
Option number three is maintaining the current fixture and recording round 10 matches as cancellations, meaning no change to the regular season or finals dates.
"There's no thought of extending the season beyond September 18 because the following weekend is the start of the school holidays and also the AFL grand final date," Martin said.
With the competition already cancelling round nine, due to the lockdown, there is a thought of trying to get in as many games in before finals.
"As we've already lost the back half of last weekend's split round, we are looking at every avenue to get round 10's matches played," he said.
"People might think some teams have an advantage because they were allowed to play their round nine matches while others had matches cancelled due to the snap lockdown two weeks ago.
"However, like many other competitions across our state, we run on a match-ratio system, which takes into account the prospect of teams within a competition playing a different number of matches, eg some may have an extra bye."
Once AFLSC decides what to do with their round 10 fixtures, they will concentrate on restarting the season as best as they can under the COVID protocols.
"At this stage, we're planning for games to go ahead next Saturday, July 17 as the commitment to our clubs is that we play until we are told we can't," Martin said.
