That means locals who work in Wollongong can not have any more than five visitors to their household, including children, from 4pm today until midnight Wednesday, June 30 when restrictions will be re-assessed.
Kiama MP Gareth Ward said he clarified this situation with NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard.
"There are a number of Shoalhaven residents who work in greater Wollongong and outlying areas like Shellharbour," he said.
"And it's important that they know they must adhere to the restrictions imposed in those other Local Government Areas [LGAs]."

That restriction means, if you live in the Shoalhaven and work in the Wollongong LGA, that you are only allowed to have an additional five people (which includes children) in your home at any one time apart from the people who reside there.
"The Delta variant is an incredibly infectious strain,' Mr Ward said.
"And while I know this will impact on many people's plans for school holidays and many of our small businesses, what would be more devastating than these restrictions would be a second wave of the virus in NSW.
"So far because of the good management of our frontline health staff, the Health Minister and Premier, we have avoided that second wave.
"There is no other place in the world I'd rather be living in right now than NSW and as tough as it is it's important we all follow the health advice."
Mr Ward said the most up-to-date advice if you are going for a one-off visit to a restrict area like Wollongong that is for an essential reason - the rules wont apply to you upon your return.
