The Blaze, who defeated the Hawks by 19 goals in round three, began the game with blistering speed, getting out to an early 3-nil lead, however, the Hawks quickly caught back up to level it at 3-all
The Hawks then moved out to a 6-4 lead following an intercept of a pass in the Blaze's goal circle.
Chaise Vassallo (wing-attack), having played for the Blaze open's earlier in the evening, had defence covered down the attacking end and was moved into the centre position, with Mia Evans coming on as wing-attack.
Ky-Mani Schwenke (goal-shooter) took a glorious intercept in the attack end and then converted her own intercept to bring the score back to 10-9.
Selene Chadrawy's defensive pressure in wing-defence forced the Hawks to throw a pass over the sideline with one minute to go, allowing the Blaze to take a 15-14 lead heading into the break.
The second quarter began with just one positional change, Bronnee Loy back on at wing-attack.
Selene Chadrawy (wing-defence) was into everything early on, getting tips around circle edge, helping the Blaze get out to an early 18-16 lead.
The Blaze's defensive combination of Jessica Bowden (goal-defence) and Aimee Landrigan (goal-keeper) dominated early in the second quarter.
Mia Evans came on as goal-attack and the Blaze began to get their rhythm, using all of the court when bringing the ball down and pushing out to a 21-16 lead.
Solid rebounding by Landrigan (goal-keeper) and intercepts by Vassallo (centre) saw Blaze up by five (29-24) at half-time.
The main break saw the end of Vassallo's time in the game, as Premier League rules allow a player to only play a total of five quarters across both games (opens and under 23s) in one night.
Bronnee Loy returned to centre, Emily Dunn came on as wing-attack and Chloe Burden entered the game in goal-keeper.
The third quarter went goal-for-goal until the Hawks broke a Blaze centre to reduce the margin to 32-29 after five minutes.
Aimee Landrigan moved out to goal-defence and Jessica Bowden moved to wing-defence.
A couple of mistakes by the Blaze saw ERNA make it a one-goal game at 32-31 before Ky-Mani Schwenke (goal-shooter) scored a settler to make it 33-31.
The Blaze's defensive pressure forced a held ball penalty by the Hawks shooter, with Schwenke converting to take a 36-33 lead.
Bronnee Loy took a spectacular intercept of a Hawks bounce pass on the circle edge, and Shwenke again rewarded her with a couple of quick goals in succession to take it out to a six-goal lead.
Chloe Burden took an intercept to deny the Hawks a last-minute goal, as South Coast led by five.
The only change heading into the last quarter was Selene Chadrawy back on as centre.
The fourth quarter began like the third, with the game again going goal-for-goal until the Blaze's defensive pressure forced the Hawks to throw a wayward pass over the baseline after three minutes.
Mia Evans (goal-attack) scored, followed quickly by Ky-Mani Schwenke (goal-shooter) to take the score out to 43-36.
Emily Dunn (wing-attack) and Schwenke (goal-shooter) connected well in the attacking end, with Schwenke's reliable hands and offensive rebounds being a highlight of her game.
Chloe Burden took an intercept in the circle, with the Blaze moving the ball down court with their signature speed.
Mia Evans (goal-attack) rewarded Burden with a goal.
Schwenke scored an amazing goal on the final buzzer, but it was waved away by the umpire who said the clock beat her - as South Coast ran out winners 53-44.
Unfortunately, this was the only victory for the Blaze on the night, as the open women's side lost to the Hawks - seeing them drop to seventh on the ladder with a 4-7-1 record.
The Blaze, who downed the Hawks by two goals in their earlier match-up, raced out to a 4-nil lead early thanks to a Tegan Holland (goal-keeper) rebound, speedy passing by Katelyn Anderson (centre) and consecutive goals to Kristina Brice (goal-shooter).
That was unfortunately where the Blaze's lead ended.
The Hawks finally scored after three minutes and through some unlucky shots from the Blaze attackers, quickly caught back up to 5-all after six minutes of play.
The Hawks found their groove and increased their whole court defensive pressure to force turnovers and take a 7-5 lead.
Dani Di Bartolo was injected into the game in goal-attack, but it did little to stop the attack end turnovers, with the Blaze heading into the first quarter break down 17-9.
Kayla Johnson (wind-defence) entered the game after the break.
Kristina Brice (goal-shooter) scored the first goal of the quarter.
Taylah Davies (wing-attack) took a great intercept in the mid-court but Katelyn Anderson (centre) unfortunately put a foot over the sideline when bringing the ball down the court.
Both teams appeared to struggle to convert their turnovers.
Chaise Vassallo came on in the centre position.
The Blaze reduced its goal deficit thanks to a Tegan Holland (goal-keeper) rebound.
Kayla Johnson was moved back into goal-defence and Elecia Parrott returned as wing-defence.
This had an immediate impact, with the pressure from Johnson and Parrott forced the Hawks to throw the ball over the baseline.
However, Dani Di Bartolo (goal-attack) unfortunately missed her shot to convert the turnover.
Shelby Mallon replaced Brice as goal-shooter with two minutes remaining in the quarter.
Tegan Holland (goal-keeper) took another impressive rebound on the half-time buzzer to deny the Hawks a late goal, however, the Blaze went into the break down 33-23.
The third quarter saw Katelyn Anderson return to centre and Kristina Brice back on as goal-shooter.
The attacking end connected early, with sharp feeds into Brice by both Taylah Davies (wing-attack) and Dani Di Bartolo (goal-attack), to reduce the margin to seven.
The defensive combination of Kayla Johnson (goal-defence) and Tegan Holland (goal-keeper) was proving lethal in the circle but the Blaze just struggled to make the most of the turnovers they were making and sadly couldn't reduce the scoreline any further.
Shelby Mallon replaced Brice as goal-shooter with four minutes remaining.
Chaise Vassallo returned as wing-attack with one minute remaining and Dani Di Bartolo (goal-attack) scored a last-second goal to make the three-quarter time score 42-35.
South Coast entered the last quarter with a lot of work ahead of them.
Brice returned to goal-shooter and Mallon came back on in goal-attack.
The Blaze scored off the first centre to reduce the margin to just six.
Johnson (goal-defence) and Holland (goal-keeper) did their best to keep the Blaze in touch but South Coast's attacking end struggled against the defence of the Hawks.
Davies replaced Anderson in centre after Katelyn took a tumble.
The Hawks continued to move quickly down the court and converted every turnover they got.
Bolton (wing-attack) entered the game with eight minutes remaining and the score at 52-38 and Te-Arn Bradley also came on as wing-defence.
Mallon (goal-attack) managed to score a long shot immediately, as South Coast closed the score to 56-39.
The Hawks' full-court defensive pressure, combined with their accurate shooting, hurt the Blaze late in the game and they couldn't claw back the margin - as they went down 64-43.
Looking ahead, both South Coast sides will take on the GWS Fury in round 13, with the under 23s at 7pm and open's at 8.45pm.
