The Bullets beat South East Melbourne 94-84 in the last game of the regular season in Brisbane on Tuesday night, which meant the Hawks finished their campaign in third position with 20 wins.
As a result, Brian Goorjian's men will have to travel west when the semi-finals get under way on Thursday night.
The Hawks held off Perth in a thriller in Wollongong last week, but Illawarra has had a poor record at RAC Arena in recent years.
Game two will be held on Saturday evening at the WEC while game three, if required, will take place back in Perth on Monday night.
Meanwhile, minor premiers Melbourne United will meet Phoenix in the other playoffs. Due to the ongoing Covid situation in Melbourne, their games will be held at Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena.
United and the Phoenix will go head-to-head on Friday night before meeting again on Sunday afternoon. Game three, if needed, will be held next Tuesday night.
